Knockhill recap.
FP1, I learned the layout of the track and got comfortable on the bike again since it had been 2 months since i last rode it. I finished 9th .6 off.
FP2, one again still learning little tricks to the track and struggling with small problems we ended friday 9th .9 of a second off first.
Qualifying, I was really struggling to get into a good rhythm. there was 38 riders on the track and I was sitting 13th most of the session, struggling to improve. A crash brought out the red flag and I thought the session was gonna be over, but they sent us out again for about 10 minutes and i knew this was a second chance. I improved a bit, from 13th to 9th in the end.
Race 1, I came from 9th on the grid and was battling for 5th most of the race, I just didn’t have the pace to go away with the front group, I started to struggle towards the end of the race and lost touch with 5th and 6th. This left me battling with two other riders. Last lap I made a smart pass into the last corner and it was enough to secure 7th.
Race 2, Sunday, we thought we had started to make improvements, starting from 7th, we were expecting a top 5 finish. I didn’t have my best of starts and came around in 11th, I worked my way up to 8th and was stuck. I was really struggling with the bike, the changes we made went in the wrong direction. I got passed by ed rendell towards the end to finish 9th.
On wards and upwards after Knockhill. I’m still sitting 6th in the championship, not far off of 5th. Im going into the next round at Brands Hatch positive, ready to work with my crew to get the bike dialed in and get back into the form I had early in the season.
